Review of the Horizon FD110 Yacht: A Marvel of Contemporary Yachting

Overview

The Horizon FD110 stands as an innovative superyacht that transforms the notion of luxury and creativity at sea. Its streamlined exterior, generous interior spaces, and numerous top-of-the-line features make this five-stateroom craft truly impressive. The yacht boasts an on-deck master stateroom, various dining and leisure areas, and a tri-deck configuration. It also provides accommodations for a six-member crew in the forward quarters, along with a fully outfitted beach club at the rear.

Core Hull Characteristics

The construction of the Horizon FD110 employs ABS/DNV type-approved fiber/resin and sandwich core materials, providing resilience and efficiency. Its white gel coat finish accentuates its elegant look. The hull and superstructure are built as a unified piece utilizing SCRIMPTM technology, which integrates Horizon's proprietary 6D infusion process. This pioneering construction technique enhances strength while minimizing weight.

The yacht is equipped with high-density foam-cored hull bottoms and sides, as well as decks and superstructures for increased stability. Interior support structures are firmly bonded to the hull, and a robust collision bulkhead enhances safety. The vessel is shielded with international anti-fouling bottom paint and anti-osmosis treatment, while underwater fittings are coated in PropSpeed/PropGold metal paint. Tunnels help lower draft, and its high-performance piercing bow is fitted with stainless steel protection plates.

Fore and Aft Deck Areas

The forward deck features nonskid surfaces, U-shaped seating, a Jacuzzi, adjustable sun pads, and plentiful storage. A sun awning supported by carbon posts provides shade, while pop-up lights set a pleasing atmosphere. Other amenities include a sink, ice maker, and refrigerator on the port walkway leading to the bow.

The aft deck showcases teak flooring and steps, an L-shaped bar with a sink, refrigerator, and ice maker, in addition to a round dining table seating ten. A hydraulic Besenzoni gangway and a hi/low swim platform with a 3,000-pound capacity enhance user-friendliness. Additional features of the aft deck include a flip-down 55-inch LED TV, fixed seating, and access to the beach club.

Skylounge and Bridge

The asymmetrical skylounge is tailored for relaxation and socializing, featuring an L-shaped sofa, a coffee table, a day head, a custom card table for four, a wine cooler, a freezer/ice maker, and a 49-inch hi/low TV. The pilothouse is furnished with a custom helm that includes a full array of engine gauges, monitoring tools, and navigation devices. Two STIDD helm chairs and a leaning post provide comfort for the captain and crew.

Boat Deck and Open Flybridge

The nonskid boat deck comes with a hydraulic Steelhead davit boasting a 3,000-pound capacity, floodlights, and Tokai Sanshin LED searchlights. A wet bar includes a refrigerator, ice maker, and four barstools, complemented by a generous U-shaped sofa. The open flybridge features a radar arch, a forward sun pad, an L-shaped sofa, and a wet bar with a sink, refrigerator, and ice maker.

Beach Club

The beach club is a highlight, boasting a wet bar complete with a fridge/freezer, cooktop, microwave, and barstools. It features L-shaped seating with a removable ottoman, a utility room providing storage for toys and dive tanks, and a rain shower integrated into the hydraulic beach club door. A day head and washer/dryer finalize this lavish area.

Power and Propulsion

This yacht is driven by twin CAT C32-B 2400HP engines, providing outstanding performance. High-efficiency S-class five-blade propellers, bronze struts, and an underwater exhaust system with sound-deadening measures ensure smooth and quiet operations. The engine room is fitted with LED lighting, a workbench complete with a sink and vice, and a Bauer Junior II dive compressor.

Interior Design and Accommodations

The Horizon FD110 delivers lavish accommodations, featuring an on-deck master stateroom, two mirrored queen staterooms, a midship guest cabin, and a twin port guest cabin. Each room has its own ensuite and is adorned with upscale finishes, entertainment setups, and ample storage. The forward crew quarters include three ensuite cabins, a crew mess area, and a utility room.

Main Salon and Galley

The primary salon is crafted for comfort and sophistication, featuring an extended sofa, a custom coffee table, and a formal dining table for ten. Full-height sliding doors facilitate seamless living between indoor and outdoor spaces. The professional-grade galley boasts a full-height pantry, Sub-Zero appliances, a five-burner cooktop, and Cambria quartz countertops.

Navigation and Electronics

The pilothouse comes equipped with a state-of-the-art Garmin navigation setup, including four multifunction displays, a 72-inch open array radar, and an autopilot system. Additional electronics comprise a Control4 system, a surveillance camera setup, and prewiring for FLIR night vision.
