Italian Shipyard Doubles Down on Sporty Series with 2028 Delivery Target

Construction has officially begun on the second hull of the ISA Viper 130 series, marking a significant commitment by ISA Yachts to its new generation of sporty, high-performance vessels. Building on speculation at the Palumbo Superyachts facility in Ancona, Italy, this 38.8-meter superyacht is scheduled for delivery in March 2028. The decision to proceed with a second unit before the first has been delivered underscores the shipyard's confidence in the model's market appeal. The first Viper 130, which was sold to an American client, is currently nearing completion and is expected to launch this summer ahead of its world debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival.

Designed by the veteran Italian stylist Fulvio De Simoni, the Viper 130 creates a bridge between sleek sport yacht aesthetics and the volume requirements of modern cruising. The vessel is constructed using a hybrid of composite and carbon fiber, a material choice intended to reduce weight while maintaining structural rigidity. This lightweight construction is essential for achieving the yacht's performance targets. Powered by three MAN engines delivering 2,200 horsepower each, coupled with two waterjets and a central MJP booster, the Viper 130 is engineered to reach a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots. Naval architecture for the project was developed in-house by the ISA Yachts technical team.

A defining characteristic of the Viper 130 is its attention to onboard liveability, particularly in the design of its exterior spaces. The cockpit is arranged across three distinct levels to segregate functions without severing the connection to the sea. At the water line, a beach area features a transformer platform that functions as both a swim ladder and a gangway. Just two steps up, the central level offers a large sunpad and lounge area with fold-down balconies that expand the beam and open the space to the horizon. The upper tier of the cockpit is dedicated to alfresco dining, accommodating twelve guests. This tiered approach maximizes the utility of the stern, a critical zone for yachts in this size bracket.

The interior layout continues the emphasis on flexibility and light. The main salon features floor-to-ceiling windows and an opening balcony on the port side, allowing natural ventilation and unobstructed views. To maximize the interior width of the salon, the exterior walkway has been retained only on the port side, an asymmetrical design solution that significantly increases the internal volume. Accommodation is provided for ten guests across five cabins, with the owner's suite located on the main deck forward. A circular pool on the bow and a garage capable of housing a 5-meter tender complete the vessel's amenities, making it a highly competitive option for buyers seeking a fast, shallow-draft yacht capable of navigating the Bahamas and Caribbean with a draft of just 1.55 meters.
