Newport International Boat Show 2026: What Buyers and Sellers Need to Know

Planning to attend the Newport International Boat Show 2026? Get dates, hours, parking, host hotels, and insider tips from yacht broker Paul Denton Jr.

Newport International Boat Show 2026

If you're thinking about buying or selling this fall, Newport is where you want to be. The Newport International Boat Show returns to downtown Newport, Rhode Island from September 17 through 20, 2026. Seven sites, seventeen acres of waterfront, and a brokerage fleet running from 30 feet all the way up to 125. It's one of the best chances all year to walk real boats, talk to real people, and figure out what actually fits your life on the water.

I'll be honest with you the way I always am. A boat show can be overwhelming if you don't have a plan. So let's break down what this one looks like and how to make the most of it.

When to Go

The show runs Thursday through Sunday. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday hours run from 10am to 6pm. Sunday wraps a little earlier, from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are good for one day only, and there are no exchanges or refunds once you buy, so pick your day with a plan in mind. Kids under 10 get in free with an adult. It's rain or shine, so dress for whatever the weather decides to do.

Getting Around the Grounds

The show spans seven connected sites through downtown Newport, and knowing the layout ahead of time saves you a lot of walking in circles. Perry Mill Wharf covers boats up to 80 feet along with engine manufacturers, marine accessories, and the Windward VIP Lounge. Hammetts Below Deck is where you'll find marine accessories, inflatables, and the daily Cruisers Classroom seminar series. Brokerage Basin is the one most of my clients care about most. That's where the show's brokerage fleet lives, sail and motor yachts ranging from 30 to 125 feet. Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina hosts test drives and sea trials for select vessels, which is worth knowing if you're serious about getting on the water before you commit to anything. Newport Yachting Center rounds things out with the latest sailboats, powerboats, and catamarans, plus more marine electronics and retail.

Parking and Getting There

Easton's Beach parking lot is the move if you're driving. It's at 175 Memorial Blvd, and a daily pass runs $40 per vehicle. That includes a continuous shuttle to the show entrance, about 1.6 miles away, running from 8am to 8pm. Book online ahead of time. On site availability is limited, and you don't want to be figuring this out the morning of.

If you'd rather skip the car entirely, ferry service now runs from both directions. The Jamestown to Newport Express Ferry offers boat show pricing, family four packs, and free parking with a free shuttle to the terminal in Jamestown. The Providence to Newport ferry drops you at Perrotti Park, which puts you within walking distance of the show. Schedules are available through Seastreak and Ride the Bay.

Where to Stay

If you're making a weekend of it, and I'd recommend that if you're serious about looking at boats, there are several official host hotels booked through the onPeak housing portal. Rates and availability shift in real time, so don't wait too long once you've picked one. Options range from around $299 to $819 a night depending on the property and how close you want to be to the action. Book direct through the official portal rather than a third party site. It protects your rate and your reservation.

Why This Show Matters If You're Buying or Selling

Newport isn't just a nice New England backdrop. It's a real marketplace. The brokerage fleet at Brokerage Basin gives you the chance to walk multiple boats in a single afternoon, compare layouts side by side, and get a feel for what actually works for how you plan to use a boat. That's something no listing photo or spec sheet can give you.

If you're on the selling side, shows like this are where serious buyers show up ready to have real conversations, not just window shop.

Either way, walking a show without a plan is how people waste a weekend. That's where I come in. If you're planning to walk Brokerage Basin, or you want a private introduction to a specific yacht at the show, my team is on the ground throughout the event. Reach out ahead of time and we'll arrange a walkthrough that fits your schedule.
