Yacht Review: 90 Sanlorenzo SL90A 2022

Review of the Sanlorenzo SL90A Yacht

Upon boarding the Sanlorenzo SL90A, guests enter through a starboard-side gate that leads to a sheltered aft deck. This area is designed for relaxation and dining, featuring integrated seating, two adjustable tables, and five movable chairs. Other access points include a port-side gate and a retractable pasarelle suitable for stern-to docking.

Upon entering the main salon through a sliding door on the port side, the interior layout emphasizes comfort and utility. A spacious L-shaped sofa to starboard, along with two loose chairs and a coffee table, creates a welcoming lounging area. Positioned to the port side for optimal natural lighting, the dining area complements the salon. A wall-mounted television is cleverly hidden behind a mirrored panel, while built-in storage along the port side allows for guest essentials. Large windows surrounding the salon amplify its airy ambiance.

Accommodations

The expansive master suite located at the front of the main deck features a king-size bed to starboard alongside a built-in desk to port. A concealed television hides behind a mirrored panel. Generous windows on either side ensure ample natural light and exterior vistas. An electric door provides direct access to the starboard deck, while the en-suite bathroom, which is one step down, boasts dual sinks, a glass-enclosed shower with marble accents, and a skylight. A walk-in closet situated a few steps past the en-suite offers plentiful storage space.

On the lower deck, there are three additional guest cabins. Two symmetrical queen cabins at the rear include hidden televisions, nightstands, and en-suite bathrooms equipped with marble and glass shower facilities. The forward VIP queen cabin presents similar features, including a built-in desk. Its en-suite bathroom, which is accessible through a sliding pocket door, showcases a marble shower with a custom seat and a porthole.

Galley and Crew Quarters

The galley, situated forward of the main salon, is outfitted with Miele appliances, generous counter space, refrigeration units, and ample storage. A door on the starboard side provides direct access to the exterior deck.

The crew quarters, accessed via a staircase located forward of the galley, comprise two cabins furnished with over/under single berths, each accompanied by an en-suite bathroom. A stacked washer and dryer are conveniently located outside the port crew cabin. The crew mess, positioned farther forward, includes built-in seating for four individuals.

Navigation and Flybridge

The pilothouse, accessible from the main deck, includes Garmin electronic systems and state-of-the-art navigation technology. A centerline staircase ascends to the flybridge through a sliding hatch.

The flybridge is crafted for open-air leisure. The port-side helm station assures excellent visibility, while additional seating to starboard encourages guest interaction with the captain. A rectangular dining table can accommodate up to eight guests. At the rear, two sunbeds and a seating area provide a relaxing space. A built-in bar with a grill and storage adds to the entertainment features.

The bow, accessible via the port side of the flybridge, is equipped with sunpads and a built-in seating arrangement complete with a table.

Swim Platform and Garage

The hydraulic swim platform, reachable via staircases on both sides, simplifies water access. A centerline garage door opens for storing and deploying water toys. The engine room is accessible through a port-side door on the aft deck.

Performance and Technical Specifications

This yacht is driven by two MTU 12V2000 M96L engines, each generating 1,973 horsepower at 2,300 RPM. These engines are paired with ZF 3055V gearboxes and V-drive transmissions. The propulsion system features Aquamet 17 shafts along with two four-blade Nibral Class "S" propellers.

Power is derived from two Kohler 32kW generators. The shore power setup includes a 220V AC 100A single-phase 60 Hz connection, a fail-safe galvanic isolator, and a Glendinning Cablemaster with a 30-meter cable. The electrical system functions at 120/240V with double gang sockets rated at 110V 60Hz for USA/EU use.

The air-conditioning system is rated at 180,000 BTU/h and consists of two chillers. Other onboard systems include a Sea Recovery watermaker, a 150-liter hot water heater, and electric zero-speed stabilizers. Hydraulic systems manage the bow thruster, stern thruster, trim tabs, gangway, garage, and tender launch system. Fuel filtration is facilitated by dual filters for each engine and generator.

Summary

The Sanlorenzo SL90A merges a thoughtfully designed layout with cutting-edge technology and impressive performance capabilities. Its asymmetric design optimizes interior space while ensuring accessibility from the exterior. Focused on comfort, efficiency, and smooth operation, this yacht is ideal for prolonged cruising and onboard living.
